This page describes how Training With Totz works today. It has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
Training With Totz works with children, so keeping them safe comes first. This page explains what we actually do.
Parents stay in charge
- Accounts belong to parents and guardians. Children don’t get their own logins.
- We only ask for a child’s first name (or nickname) and their class. We don’t ask for surnames, school names, photos or ID numbers of children.
- Parents book, pay, cancel and see every lesson and every tutor note in their dashboard.
- Only the booked family sees the lesson link.
How we check tutors
A tutor can apply on this website, but nobody is listed until we approve them. Before approval we:
- check their identity document (Omang or passport) in person or on a video call,
- see their qualification certificates, and
- talk with them about their teaching and about these rules.
We also ask whether they can provide a police clearance certificate and record the answer. Badges on a tutor’s profile (“ID checked”, “Qualifications checked”, “Interviewed”) only appear once we have done that check.
Rules every tutor agrees to
- Lessons only take place at booked times, using the lesson link shown in the parent’s dashboard.
- No private contact with a child: no personal phone numbers, WhatsApp, social media or messaging apps. Anything about lessons goes through the parent or through us.
- No meeting a learner in person.
- No recording of lessons, and no photos or screenshots of a child.
- Keep the camera on, dress and speak appropriately, and teach from a suitable, quiet space.
- Tell us straight away about anything that worries them about a child’s safety or wellbeing.
There is no messaging between tutors and children on this website. Tutors don’t see parents’ phone numbers or email addresses. We pass on anything that needs saying.
During lessons
- Please stay nearby, especially for the first lessons, and let your child learn in a shared space (not a bedroom with the door closed).
- After every lesson the tutor writes notes for you: attendance, what was covered and what to practise.
Raising a concern
If anything about a tutor or a lesson worries you or your child, stop the lesson and email us at admin@finchathub.com. We will reply within one working day, and we suspend a tutor from new bookings while we look into a safeguarding concern. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the Botswana Police on 999 or Childline Botswana on 116.
